Learn more about Scrum certification and Scrum certification training from ASPE–SDLC.

Successful Scrum teams are not formed without strong organization, collaboration, and skills. Three people people with Scrum certification are necessary for any Scrum project and they include the ScrumMaster, Product Owner, and Scrum Developer. Each of these roles has unique jobs and vital skills to carry a team to a successful finish. A person who receives Scrum certification in one of these three areas demonstrates excellence in the particular skill set and gains huge competitive advantages and resources.

ASPE is a registered Scrum certification provider through the Scrum Alliance. All our Scrum courses are hands–on and utilize a real–world approach. Our Scrum certification training courses are all taught by experienced and certified instructors and are guaranteed to prepare you for Scrum certification.

Becoming certified in one of these areas is an essential step in receiving a more advanced Scrum certification such as Certified Scrum Professional or Certified Scrum Trainer. Before receiving a Scrum Certification, it is important to clearly understand the tasks of the different roles and be aware of the responsibilities and skills necessary in each job.

Scrum Certifications include:

Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)

The primary role of the ScrumMaster is to function as a facilitative leader who keeps the team focused on its goals. This includes keeping track of tasks and the team's current progress. The ScrumMaster makes updates to the burndown chart which displays the cumulative work remaining after each day. It is important for the ScrumMaster to monitor work in progress carefully to ensure maximum productivity. The ScrumMaster also manages personal conflict within the team and raises awareness of any dependencies or blocks that could become impediments to the team. It is the ScrumMaster's duty to develop a remediation plan to address and overcome these impediments.

A Certified ScrumMaster must have a level of expertise above that of the typical project manager. To become a Certified ScrumMaster, it is required to take a course from a certified Scrum trainer and pass the CSM test following the course.

After successfully completing ASPE's Certified ScrumMaster Workshop, participants will have all information required to take the evaluation and obtain ScrumMaster certification.

Certified Product Owner (CSPO)

The product owner is the project's key stakeholder. This person must have a strong vision of what they which to build and then convey it to the team. The product owner creates a product backlog which contains short descriptions of everything desired in the product. A product owner focuses on functioning as the customer for a scrum team. This requires a strong understanding of users, the market place, the competition, and the future trends for the particular system being developed.

CSPO certification gives access to local user groups, online social networks, and many other resources that are only available to certified product owners. Unlike other scrum certification, it is necessary for the product owner to simply learn scrum basics. It is then required to take a certification course that takes this basic knowledge and puts it into action.

After successfully completing ASPE's Certified Scrum Product Owner Workshop (CSPO), participants will automatically receive CSPO certification.

Certified Scrum Developer (CSD)

A Certified Scrum Developer has a strong understanding of scrum principles and Agile engineering. Their work includes developing the coding, software, design aspects, and collaboration practices used by the scrum team. Some of the many benefits of becoming a CSD include gaining a competitive edge and making the commitment of continuous improvement and sharpened skills which enable a scrum team to excel.

A Certified Scrum Developer must go through a formal training course. Approved CSD courses include required technical training, a study of scrum principles, and elective options that allow you to develop skills you feel would be beneficial.

Upon completion of any CSD elective course as well as ASPE's Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) Workshop: Hands-On Agile Engineering participants will have all information required to take the evaluation and obtain Scrum Developer Certification.
